Caribbean cooking

One of the most exciting aspects of caribbean cooking is identifying each islands impressive and simple dishes. The Caribbean islands culinary heritage is based on different traditions from the Spanish, East Indian, Dutch, French, Native American, and African. The flavors are a mix of seasonings, and great ingredients. These ingredients produce intense, colorful, and aromatic flavors that are refreshing and pleasing to the eyes and to the taste budds. Caribbean cooking showcases the diversity of each island. Most recipes are composed of ingredients that are locally grown. When the trade route was established between North American, Europe, and Africia brought a variety of food products which made life a little easier for the islanders. The trade bought a food product which is used today throughout the caribbean and is a staple in most households is salted fish which is prepared in a number of different ways. Each island has is on very destinct dishes that set them apart from the other islands. Jamaica is known for its many types of Jerk dishes from vegetables to various meats that you can jerk. Barbados is home of the Flying fish & Cou Cou, and Cassava Pone . Trindad is home to Rotio, and other traditional Indian foods just to name a few. The Caribbean is a indescribably delicious food and drink kitchen just waiting to be discovered.
